The TT-F1UB Tuner Timer Unit is that partner box, matched to the portable Betamax recorder in its silver finish. Its original carton advertises a component tuner/timer, wireless remote control, and two-week, nine-event programmability.

On the front are on/standby, timer-record, and charge buttons, a smoked display window marked with the days of the week and event and timer indicators, and twelve numbered preset buttons below it, beside a flip-down panel marked “open.” The unit is made in Japan and comes with its mains lead on a U.K. plug. It is offered in its original pink-and-brown Sony Betamax box, which shows shelf wear and old tape.
