Cosmic Blocks: Funkadelic Bricks – “Toys” Album Art Add to favourites
Completely unique and full of character, these bespoke painted wooden bricks were created by artist Vicki Fox as original props for the cover art of “Toys” - the Funkadelic album of unreleased Westbound-era material. Each brick was hand-painted for the photo session, forming part of the surreal, psychedelic slop that visually captured the thang of Parliafunkadelicment. Toys comprises a collection of unreleased tracks and studio jams recorded in the early 1970s for Westbound Records, the Detroit label founded by Armen Boladian. The master tapes - long thought lost - were rediscovered decades later between filing cabinets in Boladian’s office, by Ace co-founder Roger Armstrong. The project became a standout in their Westbound series, complete with newly uncovered recordings. These hand-painted bricks are the only surviving physical artefacts from the Toys cover shoot. Their vivid, textured surfaces still carry the marks of their making - a direct link to the visual imagination that surrounded one of the most significant rediscoveries in the Ace catalogue. Please note that, on top of the final bidding price, you (the buyer) will be charged the following:
- Buyer premium of 15% on top of the final hammer price. E.g. for a winning bid of $100, you will pay $115 plus shipping, insurance, and taxes. The buyer premium helps us invest in curation, appraisals, verification, content and platform development.

Shipping method: All orders are shipped tracked.
Insurance: For all orders over $200 we will include 1.3% on top of the hammer price to cover insurance.
Packing: We work with trusted packing teams to ensure the best delivery of your items. This will be added to the final cost.
Expected delivery: Item ships 2 weeks after auction closes. Delivery time varies by location.
We run a popcorn bidding process on all auctions. This means that if you put a bid in within the last 5 minutes of the auction, the clock will extend for another 5 minutes. This will continue until no more bids are placed. This allows everyone time to get their bids in fairly.
