Kim Deal started the Breeders as a side project while still in the Pixies, and by 1993 the band had a worldwide hit with “Cannonball.” This TDK SA-X90 cassette is labeled “Breeders Demos” on the spine, and its inlay carries a full handwritten tracklist across both sides, with ticks beside the titles.

These are demos of songs that appeared in their finished form on Title TK, the Steve Albini–produced album that followed Last Splash in 2002 after an eight-year wait. “Full on Idle,” “Son of Three” (written here as “Son of Go”), “Forced to Drive,” “T and T” (“Shitty T&T”), “Huffer,” and “London Song” all made the album, with alternate versions of “London Song” on the tape too. One entry is marked “Climbing the Sun – Jap version”; “Climbing the Sun” ended up as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of Title TK. Other titles—“Moog Song,” “Swinger,” “Beautiful Shell,” and “Upside Down”—do not appear on the album.
