Ministry of Sound soundsystem

Ministry of Sound was built in 1991 around its soundsystem, not around a guest list. These six Martin Audio stacks ran the Box, the club's main room, from 2010 to 2025, winning Best Club Sound System at the International Dance Music Awards four years running. Retired in the club's 35th-anniversary refurbishment, they're offered together with six XTA amps.

103 Gaunt Street · Since 1991

One of the most iconic clubs in UK dance culture

Ministry of Sound opened in 1991 in a disused bus garage at Elephant & Castle, inspired by New York's Paradise Garage. From the start the idea was simple: the sound came first.

Over 35 years the club became a label, a compilation series and a name known around the world, but the main room at Gaunt Street is where it all started.

The sound came first. Everything else was built around it.
