The Wedding Present - ‘Songs for the LP’ George Best Demo Tape
Before The Wedding Present went into the studio to make George Best, the songs existed on tape. This cassette, labeled in pen “The Wedding Present – Songs for the LP,” gathers them in one place. The handwritten inlay lists Side A “in alphabetical order”: “All This and More,” “A Million Miles,” “Don’t Be So Hard,” “Don’t Laugh,” “Everyone Thinks He Looks Daft,” “Give My Love to Kevin,” “I Regret Everything,” “My Favourite Dress,” “Shatner,” “Something and Nothing,” “The Day That This Letter Came,” “You Can’t Moan Can You?,” and “All About Eve.” Side B adds “What Did Your Last Servant Die Of?,” another “Something and Nothing,” “All This and More,” and “22.”
George Best came out on the band’s own Reception label in 1987, and most of these titles made the record. Others, such as “Don’t Laugh” and “All About Eve,” turned up instead as B-sides. This tape catches the songs before the album gave them their final order.
