One of thirty-six jackets produced in 2024 to mark the 25th anniversary of Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style, given out exclusively to members of the Wu-Tang Clan, its management team, and the game’s executive producers. 

This unworn, 2XL Merino wool and Italian leather jacket, is one of only two made with custom “Chef” name embroidery and Raekwon’s “R” symbol embroidery, indicating it was issued as a personalized piece for iconic Wu-Tang Clan rapper Raekwon the Chef. No version of this jacket, whether with or without the “Chef” embroidery and “R” patch, was ever sold commercially. 

Developed by Duane and Oliver “Power” Grant’s Queen Ruby Holdings with Paradox Development and published by Activision, Wu Tang: Shaolin Style is a tournament-style fighting game developed for play on the original PlayStation console in 1999. The game, which allowed users to compete as each of the Wu-Tang Clan’s nine core members, was the first brand extension by a hip-hop act into gaming. 

The jacket carries that history in its construction: the jacket front features Raekwon’s “R” symbol in chenille embroidery and a likeness of the classic, first-edition PlayStation game controller on the left chest. Yellow embroidery with the Wu-Tang backronym “Witty Unpredictable Talent And Natural Game” appears on the right chest. Embroidery with the title of the game appears above opposing pockets, with “Shaolin” on the right, “Style” on the left. The back prominently features the Wu-Tang “Killer Bee” logo in chenille, with “Chef” name embroidery above. Custom satin interior lining features an alternating pattern of the Wu-Tang “Killer Bee” and “W” logos and a “Shaolin Style 25 Years” woven neck label.

The numbers “19” and “99” appear on the right and left leather sleeves, respectively, to connote the release year for the game. Embroidery on the right sleeve includes the names of all nine Wu-Tang Clan members, and the PlayStation controller symbols; the Wu-Tang “Iron Flag” logo and the PlayStation “PS” logo are embroidered on the left sleeve. 

Preserved in excellent condition, this personalized Raekwon the Chef jacket has never been worn. It represents an important landmark in Wu-Tang Clan and video game history, remixed in a contemporary style.
