A UNIQUE COLLECTION FROM A BRITISH INNOVATOR

With a legacy spanning over three decades, George Evelyn—aka Nightmares on Wax—has continually redefined the possibilities of sound. Pioneering a new sound with his peers with records like Dexturous, which coined the term ‘bleep techno’ to the sample-rich Smokers Delight through to the introspective journey of Shout Out! To Freedom, he’s created a body of work that isn’t just about music, but emotional resonance, culture, and evolution.

Ahead of the launch of his new mixtape Echo45 this month, we were lucky enough to spend time with George at his home in Ibiza, curating his Collection. Criss-crossing the island bumping various N.O.W. albums led to a fresh appraisal of his music and understanding of his context in British music. George Evelyn, Nightmares On Wax, Warp Records longest serving artist, Leeds lad, b-boy, Ibiza native continues to be a master curator of mood and message.
