Charley Pride & Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Georgetown Masters Red-Sleeve Masters x2 (1987)
Two Georgetown Masters red-sleeve masters from 1987, each with its session paperwork on the sleeve: who produced it, who recorded it, and Denny Purcell as mastering engineer. Complete credit blocks like these are what make a master a document of how the record was made.
What’s in the lot
- Charley Pride – ‘I’m Gonna Love Her on the Radio’ (Side B), 16th Avenue Records, dated 12/23/87. Produced by Jerry Bradley, mastered by Denny Purcell, recorded by Bill Harris. Pride was country music’s first Black superstar and a Country Music Hall of Famer. Graded 6.5/10 by the consignor, with edge wear and handling marks.
- Nitty Gritty Dirt Band – ‘Hold On,’ Warner Bros., dated 2/4/87. The date is hand-corrected from 1/31/87, with the date and producer whited out and rewritten. Produced by Josh Leo; recorded and mastered by Eric Prestidge and Denny Purcell. The disc surface carries a heavy white residue and is sold as found.
