An original flyer for one of the earliest Factory club nights, held at the Russell Club, Moss Side, Manchester, on Friday 9th June 1978. Headlined by Joy Division, with support from The Tiller Boys and reggae DJs, the night ran 9pm–2am with admission just £1.

Designed by Linder Sterling, the flyer embodies the radical, DIY spirit of early Factory. This was the fourth Factory night, soon immortalised on Peter Saville’s famous FAC 1 poster—though legend has it those posters didn’t arrive until after the gigs, so Tony Wilson photocopied stopgap flyers like this one on Granada Television’s machines to spread the word.

An important document of Joy Division’s rise and the beginnings of Factory as both a club and label, this flyer is in outstanding, as-new condition—extraordinarily rare for an ephemeral piece meant only to last a week on a wall.

Size: 298 × 210 mm

Condition: Outstanding, as new
