When the Hard Rock Casino opened in downtown Cincinnati on October 29, 2021, Bootsy’s presence was naturally requested at the grand opening. After all, he is easily one of the most iconic musicians to hail from the Queen City. As is Hard Rock tradition, the event included a ceremonial “Guitar Smash,” where honorary participants inaugurate the space by smashing an acoustic guitar produced especially for the occasion. Bootsy’s guitar from the ceremony has been encased in glass, along with the safety goggles he wore while smashing it, shards from the guitar frame, an informational plaque, and a framed photograph from the event, all set against red velvet trim.
